September’s fresh-start energy is different than January’s.
January is about creating big plans, dreaming of a vision for the entire year.
You’re full of hopes and dreams — this is going to be your year to create what you know is yours.
Then, inevitably, life happens. Sometimes events you can’t control throw you off track. However most people’s plans set them up to fail because the same past pains, limited beliefs, doubt and insecurities continue to sabotage their best efforts.
More in a moment about why typical action plans don’t work.
Today, take a deep breath and let it all go. The year’s challenges don’t mean you’ve failed, and they don’t mean your dream is out of reach.
Au contraire!
The challenges you experience while pursuing your dreams have a purpose. They’re here to guide you into becoming the highest version of yourself, the version capable of making your dreams your reality.
Your dreams represent the image of what’s possible when you live from your highest self.
It’s not just about achieving a goal, but becoming who you’re meant to be.
September is the perfect time to transform challenges into wisdom, to realign with your highest purpose, and try again, empowered by your newfound wisdom.
The vision you have for your life is within reach. You just need the right approach to unlock it.
This is our fall focus in The Journaling Club.
Let’s begin your journey toward growth:
Most people’s goals set them up to fail. Here’s what you can do instead:
1. Focus on small shifts instead of huge changes.
The truth is, tiny changes take you to beautiful places.
Vowing to hit the gym five days a week when you now struggle to go once or start a business based on your life purpose when you’re not sure what that is feels inspiring, but often leads to failure.
I totally changed my lifestyle over the past few years. I used to spend all my time working and neglected my wellbeing. Now, I have a leisurely morning routine, walk daily, do Pilates most days, meditate and have a nurturing bedtime routine.
I didn’t start these things all at once, but instead focused on incremental shifts that built on each other.
You might feel like your goal is too small to matter, but you’ll be surprised by how quickly you expand once you get started.
That’s how you create lasting change, especially when supported by practical goal-setting strategies combined with powerful inner work.
Big dreams, small steps.
2. Shift limiting beliefs and heal past pains to prioritize yourself without guilt.
With only 24 hours in the day, and time required for work and sleep and cooking and cleaning, finding time to focus on your goals can feel difficult.
You may feel overwhelmed with everything you have to do and unsure how to create space, or guilty for taking time for you.
An interconnected web of limiting beliefs, past pains and social expectations keep you trapped in this never-ending loop, never breaking free to turn your dreams into reality.
You must learn new ways to consider your daily routine and prioritize yourself without guilt, which requires a mix of mindset shifts and emotional healing. You deserve to spend time on yourself.
Prioritizing yourself makes you happier and healthier, allowing you to give more.
3. Bolster your ability to navigate setbacks.
You are capable of realizing your dreams. You are strong and smart and have so much to offer the world.
Unfortunately, many smart, gifted souls with a lot to offer are also really sensitive, which makes responding to setbacks difficult.
This has been the biggest area of learning for me, personally. I used to crumble in the face of self-doubt, letting it stop me before I even began. And once I began and faced actual failure, my heart broke again and again until I learned how to fortify myself against this pain.
What’s needed is to heal past pains to bolster your self-belief while shifting your mindset so you learn to adapt (and grow) rather than quit.
We’ll be covering this in The Journaling Club this month.
Fulfilling your purpose requires the right plan, mindset and emotional strength.
Instead of feeling overwhelmed by all the changes you want to make, focus on one or two key shifts.
Instead of seeing setbacks as proof you’re not good enough, see them as invitations for growth, to learn new skills, develop a more empowered mindset and release old emotional pains.
And instead of feeling defeated by the distance between where you are and where you want to be, let it thrill you that you have the rest of your life to explore that space.
This journey is about falling in love with who you really are and living your entire life as a celebration of that person. It’s your time.
