How I quickly overcome limiting beliefs
You haven't monetized your soul's creative genius because you believe your thoughts
The reason you aren’t making money from your soul’s creative vision…
And why you’re not totally and unapologetically creatively self-expressed…
is because you believe all your thoughts rather than pausing for a minute and asking if they match where you’re going or where you’ve been.
Your thoughts are the reason you haven’t unlocked your creative genius and monetized it, and if you don’t stop tolerating these thoughts, you won’t become the fully expressed, wildly successful version of you.
As an example, when I was younger, my big dream was to travel the world, do crazy things and write about it.
I was bold. I was committed. I moved to Hawaii after college to work on a farm and gather material for a book. (The farm ended up being a fruit stand sham, but that’s another story.)
Then I moved to Portland and tried to write said book while working a temp job.
But no matter how much I tried, I couldn’t finish the book I set out to write. I couldn’t figure out how to make my dream a reality.
Shortly before turning 25, I decided it was time to grow up and get a real job.
Two years later, I got cancer. Are the two related? I think so.
When you live out of alignment with your soul, emotional and physical dis-ease inevitably result.
Unfortunately, it took facing death to learn what author Bronnie Ware has described as the top regret of the dying:
I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
Ultimately, I realized it didn’t matter if I failed. I needed to live the life my soul called me to live because life isn’t about checking all the boxes. That’s not what creates happiness and fulfillment.
Life is about taking (strategic) risks, exploring who you are, and working toward meaningful goals.
As a spiritual life coach here to help you create a life so soulful and extraordinary that it rewrites the rules of what’s possible, today I want to help you overcome the limiting beliefs blocking you from realizing your soul’s creative vision.
First, let’s play this out so you can see the difference between limiting versus empowering thought processes.
When I was younger, I thought things like:
I can’t make money doing what I really want
I’m too average to live that kind of life
Who am I to make a living writing?
Everyone else works normal jobs. Why can’t I just be normal?
These thoughts determined my reality. While yes, I did start to chase my dreams by moving to Hawaii, I soon got stuck.
I thought I struggled with consistency, always renewing my vow to work on my book, but every time I sat down to write, all I could think about was how much I sucked, how this would never go anywhere, and how I should just give up and get a real job.
And ultimately, that’s exactly what I did.
Compare that to now —
I sit down to work, confident in my mission of helping high-achieving women become fully and unapologetically creatively self-expressed and monetize their creative genius.
I am clear in my “extreme talent in the art of uncovering what the true challenges are in a particular situation,” so you can free yourself from them, as a kind and incredibly talented client told me this week!
And I regularly invest (sometimes at an uncomfortable edge!) in coaching and courses to get the support I need to realize my purpose.
I’m willing to back myself because I’m committed to success, and know that while the answers are within, everyone has blindspots preventing us from saying yes to all we’re truly meant to become.
Because of this mindset, I’ve created a business where I serve others through my unique gifts, express my creative genius, and enjoy unlimited earning potential without sacrificing my lifestyle requirements of time- and location-freedom to travel, focus on my health and take care of my home and family.
So how do you overcome limiting beliefs to create empowered ones?
The first step to overcoming limiting beliefs is acknowledging your fears.
A lot of people skip this step. It’s not fun and sometimes requires heavy emotional processing, which we’ll talk about in a minute.
But you need to acknowledge your fears and pain and clear them. This creates the space for new, more empowered beliefs.
Your fears may include:
“If I put my work into the world, everyone’s going to judge me.”
“I’m afraid of making a wrong decision and not being able to turn things around.”
“If I follow my heart and fail, everyone will say, ‘I told you so.’”
These fears control your behavior in subconscious ways until you become aware of them.
You might think you struggle with being consistent or picking an idea to focus on.
But if you think back to when you were younger, I can guarantee there’ve been times you’ve gotten obsessed with an idea or project and poured yourself into it.
When you really want something and believe you can create it, you move full-force. It’s just who you are.
The problem isn’t that you lack the ability to be consistent.
The problem is that you lack belief in your ability to succeed, or you worry what will happen if you do.
So ask yourself — what are you afraid of?

The second step to overcoming limiting beliefs is processing the pain underneath them.
The truth is, overcoming limiting beliefs can feel more difficult as you get older because life’s inevitable setbacks and failures seem to provide evidence that your limiting beliefs are true.
A lot of negative attitudes toward success are more about memories of past failures than anything happening in the present moment.
Any belief that makes you want to abandon your heart’s dream is NOT TRUE.
That’s why you need to properly deal with past failures and setbacks, and any remaining pain from earlier in life, so your future is determined by your hopes and dreams rather than limited by painful past experiences.
Without dissolving the underlying painful emotion attached to this limiting belief, it will be near impossible to reframe it into a more empowered thought because you won’t truly believe it.
This is the work I help my clients with. If you’re a high-achieving woman ready to map out and monetize your soul’s creative genius so you can express your full potential, book a call to talk about how we can work together.
To release the pain underneath your limiting beliefs, sit with the energy of that emotion. Learn the process in this video.
The third step to overcome limiting beliefs is to identify the thoughts and attitudes holding you back.
Now that you’ve cleared away your deeper fears and processed the surrounding pain, you can identify the actual limiting belief without drama.
The work you’ve done clearing away the pain attached to the belief will make it much easier to reprogram your mind for success, which you’ll learn how to do in the next step.
But first, take a moment to do this self-discovery work that will help you get better results.
Identify your thoughts and attitudes about your:
Abilities
Current circumstances
Future possibilities
Ask questions like:
Why is it hard for you to achieve your goals?
What is against you?
Why haven’t you been successful so far?
These questions will immediately identify your limiting beliefs. But don’t skip the emotional processing part because if you don’t release the underlying pain, you won’t believe new, more empowering thoughts.
Grab your journal, write, and BE HONEST!
Now that you’ve already done the deeper inner work, the thoughts that come up will be so obviously false!
If you’re still not sure, notice how each thought makes you feel. If it doesn’t feel expansive and empowered, it’s a limiting belief. There’s always a better, more empowering thought.
The fourth step to overcome limiting beliefs is to rewire your brain for success.
You do this by writing NEW beliefs and reminding yourself of them.
This doesn’t have to be wild affirmations like —
I am a mesmerizing goddess who walks on rose petals and seduces everyone who comes in my path.
I mean, it can be, but examples of empowering beliefs are:
I achieve everything I put my mind to
I always figure it out
I have a lot of talent and potential, and I’m excited to see how my hard work pays off
These are empowering core beliefs that will make you:
Lean into challenges, figuring out the skills you need to learn to solve them
Show up to work on your passion projects consistently
Ask for help instead of continuing to struggle on your own
After my journaling sessions, I like to pick one specific affirmation that I can remind myself of when the limiting beliefs pops up.
At this point, you will have done the inner work, so you’ll be able to simply remind yourself of the new thought and believe it.
The old thoughts are habitual, but with continued effort, you can create new, more positive thought patterns and make them habits.
The fifth, bonus step, to overcoming limiting beliefs is to elevate your identity.
This is something I work on a lot with my private clients.
You want to become the person who:
Draws strength from challenges rather than backs away from them
Has a confident self-image in her mind of one who always succeeds
Responds to setbacks and failures in an empowered way that helps you grow
