Knowing you’re meant for big things while feeling clueless about what those things are, is exasperating.
You might doubt whether your feelings are real, or if you’re just delusional.
You might question if this path will make money, because even though you’re not supposed to care about that, you need a career that naturally extends from your soul.
One one level, you keep telling yourself to have patience. The answer will appear.
Except answers don’t come through waiting. Answers are waiting on you to act.
On another level, you’re fine with not having the answers because deep down, you don’t believe what you feel is real.
Of course the answers aren’t coming. I’m deluded in wanting what I want.
The moment you tell yourself —
"I’m not delusional. I’m being honest about the vision inside my heart. And I’m taking action anyway.”
Is the moment your entire life will change.
My life changed because of a woman I thought was a fraud.
There’s a very well-known spiritual guru who many people obsess over but I think is totally fake.
Before I started my blog, I watched this woman from afar, judging her every move because I wanted what she had.
One day, five little words changed my life:
If she can do it…
I can do it, too.
At the time, I didn’t have a super clear vision.
I knew I wanted to share hard-won wisdom from life experiences.
I wanted to write books, blog, maybe speak on stages.
I’d started — and abandoned — multiple blogs over the years. I’d spent my life waiting for the right opportunity to pluck me from obscurity, hoping my destiny wouldn’t miss me.
I also thought of myself as someone who quit things.
I had no idea how to create the version of my life where I wrote and helped others through sharing my unique gifts.
Even though I had no idea how to realize my dreams, I took action anyway.
One of my first blog posts in 2014 was Faux naturale: The dangerous truth behind natural beauty products.
What?! That’s out of left field.
You might wonder what I was thinking because beauty products have nothing to do with sharing life lessons.
The truth is, I had no clue what I was doing. But I took action anyway.
That’s how purpose is. You kinda have a vision, take a shot, realize it’s nothing like you envisioned, and try again.
(If I’d had someone to keep me focused on my vision, everything would’ve happened much faster.)
I achieved my dream because I decided to believe in it. I was done waiting.
4 big reasons why we struggle to take our dreams seriously
Here are the most common roadblocks I’ve experienced, and that I see in my clients.
1. We don’t believe we’re worthy or capable of creating our vision.
The other day I spoke with someone who said she couldn’t start a business because she didn’t know how. What? What do you mean you don’t know how?
You take a sheet of paper, list all the steps you could take, and pick something.
That’s not the true problem, of course. The real problem is we don’t think we’re capable. We’re disconnected from our creativity, resourcefulness and inner guidance.
Not knowing how is a mindset issue.
Nobody knows how at first. It’s okay.
Affirmation: You can figure it out.
2. Unprocessed past pain makes us think good things don’t happen to us.
Soulful creatives feel deeply. We carry past painful experiences close to our hearts.
Whether you’ve experienced trauma, abuse or neglect, or simply carry pain you don’t know how to release, this feeling of pain makes you think that creating a life of beauty, joy and abundance is for other people, and not you.
Unprocessed pain from past experiences activates your brain to protect you from more hurt.
If your entire being is focused on keeping you safe rather than taking bold action to realize your dreams, that’s why everything feels cloudy and overwhelming.
Affirmation: Even though my past has been painful, my future can be beautiful.
3. We blame ourselves for past choices, and lose trust in our instincts.
When I started my blog, I was living someplace I truly hated. Place is very important to me, and I risked a lot when I was younger to live someplace I enjoyed.
To end up somewhere I didn’t want to be made me question everything. But because I embraced my life, I saw how the exact things I resisted also offered the opportunity to follow my dreams without much risk.
Making a living while following your heart requires you to build certainty that everything is happening for the highest good. More on this in a minute.
Affirmation: You’re who you’re meant to be, and where you’re meant to be. You can create anything you want from exactly where you are.
4. We identify as someone who struggles, and succeeding would challenge that identity.
This was a HUGE breakthrough for me recently. I was struggling to figure out my Instagram strategy and noticed that I felt attached to the idea that I wouldn’t succeed on the platform.
I’d created a story about life being hard for me, and realized that succeeding would challenge my perception of who I was. After releasing the story and related emotions, I was guided to an amazing strategy that feels so aligned. All the stress around IG dissolved, too.
Our minds emotionally attach to stories that aren’t true, but become self-fulfilling prophecies. If you’re not aware of these stories, they’ll keep you stuck. Waiting.
Affirmation: I’ve struggled before, but I’m open to a new experience now.
How to move forward on your creative dreams when the voices in your head say you’re delusional.
Success is 80% mindset and energy, 20% strategy. The inner work of aligning your thoughts and emotions with your soul’s vision makes the practical work, work.
1. Stop waiting.
You’re waiting on life to give you an idea, opportunity, or plan, but life is waiting on you to take the next step.
It took me 7 months of writing my blog before expressing myself the way I wanted.
Eat Pray Love was Elizabeth Gilbert’s third book.
The painter Cezanne created his most valuable work in his twilight years, after decades of practice.
Creating your truest work requires two things:
First, take the next step even if you don’t see the whole staircase.
Second, wrestle with uncertainty and seek the answers underneath.
Your soul knows. You always know. You have to remove the layers of doubt, fear and conditioning keeping you from clarity.
That doesn’t happen through waiting. It happens through inner work.
2. Decide to be certain.
There are no right or wrong choices, only choices you make.
There is no good or bad path forward, only a path that feels aligned to you.
Any situation can be rearranged, any pain can be used for good.
If you struggle with doubt, you need certainty.
Certainty, as I teach my clients in Creative Genius, allows you to co-create with God, opening a bigger channel for blessings and miracles to flow into your life.
Your higher self always knows the best choice to make. That setback you’re experiencing is only lining you up for your greatest blessing. The vision you see in your heart is there for a reason.
When you clear away all the past pain, negative and limiting beliefs, only certainty remains.
3. Trust yourself.
Comparing ourselves to others, wanting what they have, thinking we need to do what they’re doing to get it — these things poison the creative spirit.
Living your purpose requires knowing, loving and trusting yourself.
You need to love yourself to love your expression of self.
You need to value and appreciate yourself before the world can.
When you know in your heart that God has a big plan for you, that you deserve to experience abundance and blessings and beauty and love, and bring your desires to God so he can guide you along your path, that’s when the magic happens.
The answers are within you. They always were. Your biggest job is aligning your thoughts, beliefs and energy to your highest self so you can find your unique pathway to monetize your soul’s truest gifts.
That’s what I help clients do in Creative Genius.
Because I walked into fear, doubt and uncertainty, I realized my heart’s biggest dream.
I've built the best community on the Internet through sharing my life lessons.
I’ve helped hundreds of people create more authentic lives through courses and coaching, and thousands more through my guided journals that people say healed them from anxiety, cultivated a real sense of worthiness and forever changed their lives.
I’ve created a business giving me the freedom to sleep ‘till 9 if I’m tired, do Pilates midday, and do my red light mask after lunch.
Not everyone longs to leave a mark on the world. Your desires aren’t proof you want too much. They’re proof you’re meant for more.
If you want to monetize your soul’s truest gifts, I’m looking for two women to guide through my 3-month coaching program, Creative Genius.
If you are:
Creative, ambitious and hard-working, meant for more but doubt your vision and aren’t sure HOW to bring it to life.

Struggle to stay consistent with your efforts, mostly because you compare yourself with others and it makes you doubt yourself.
Sometimes make progress and get in a groove, but get knocked out somehow and have difficulty locking back in.
And you want to:
Build a business or otherwise make money as a natural extension of your soul
Identify a clear, simple 90-day plan that gets you into consistent action while creating measurable results
Use your true gifts to create something iconic that outlives you
Make your inner child super proud and happy because you’re living her dream
Then Creative Genius is for you!
My special gift is seeing the unseen so you can explore the parts of yourself you’ve neglected or avoided. Loving these parts of you opens the door to freedom, abundance and possibility!
