When you trust yourself, you'll know your highest purpose
Beautiful opportunities come to those with faith in their intuition
Too many smart, soulful women with incredible gifts and talents languish in unfulfilling jobs and lives that don’t feel like theirs because they don’t trust themselves.
They spend their lives wishing or waiting for something to change. They imagine themselves a movie heroine, who, adrift in a mundane life, will encounter a beneficent stranger who encourages them to take meaningful risks and follow their dreams.
But life is not a movie.
No one is coming to save you.
Life will not sweep you off your feet, guiding you to passion, purpose and fulfillment.
You must find your own way forward.
And that means, you need to trust yourself.
Before we get started, if you’re new here, my name is Suzanne. I’m a spiritual life coach who helps ambitious women find their purpose and make it their career.
My work guides you to find your true self, regain confidence and create clarity on exactly how to make money while following your heart.
Years ago, everyone told me to take a promotion I didn’t want. I wanted to quit.
But it felt crazy to quit. It was a $75,000 a year job (equivalent to $100,000 now, thanks to inflation), promotion to management, and the title would look amazing on my resume.
Yet the job didn’t make me happy. I hated commuting. The environment was micro-managey and catty with high turnover.
My boss freaked out over me being 10 minutes late while also expecting us to work frequent evening events and travel. (The job related to politics.)
I dreamed of quitting to write freelance for magazines.
Even though I wasn’t sure that was my purpose, it felt like the next right step.
I felt confident in my ability to earn a location-free living, and wanted to see what I was capable of, what I could achieve through pouring my peak creative energy and potential into my own business rather than wasting it on a job I didn’t like.
Because that’s ultimately what purpose is about. Harnessing your peak creative energy and expressing it into the world in a way that serves others while leading to fulfillment.
The resigned frustration you feel at work, knowing you’re capable of more, meant for more, is a sacred sign there is more.
True happiness requires you to align your career with your purpose and greatest gifts.
Anyway, earning money from your gifts isn’t really that difficult, once you do the numbers.
Think about how your boss, if you have one, makes money from your gifts. He (or she) leverages your talents to offer them to clients, who pay your salary plus a profit earned by your company.
When you work with people / sell things, you keep all the money, minus expenses (and taxes).
That means the profit that would normally go to your boss, fills your pocket.
Because you keep the profit your company would normally take, you actually don’t need that many clients / projects / sales to replace your full-time income, if you’re priced correctly and have appropriate marketing strategies.
I haven’t been talking much about this practical side of earning a living from your purpose work, but as I lean into helping you find your purpose and make it your career, it makes sense to share this more logical, practical side of my brain, which, as a Capricorn, comes incredibly naturally to me.
I’ve always been really good at breaking down complex goals into simple action plans to achieve my goals, and love doing that for clients, too.
And yet, when I considered quitting my job, I doubted my inner guidance.
I feared what would happen if I failed. Would I be able to get another job? Would I render myself unemployable?
Then one day leaving work, I caught my eyes in the rearview mirror. They looked dead. As someone who had survived cancer a few years before, that freaked me out.
I didn’t go through treatment, lose my hair, fight for my life only to surrender my vitality to a job that took advantage of me, even if it paid well.
I didn’t fight to live only to play it safe and do what others expected of me, all while dying inside.
I knew I had to quit.
That was a turning point. I realized others might want what’s best for me, but only I know what’s right for me.
Soon after, I quit my job, and never looked back. I earned a full-time income freelancing in my first year and proved to myself that I do have what it takes.
Freelancing led to starting a blog about my spiritual awakening, which led to courses helping people release past pain, which led to my current business — coaching ambitious women to find their purpose and make it their career.
Purpose is followed, not found, and I would never have connected to my highest purpose and created a career around it without taking those first tentative, hazy steps.
Trusting yourself is the key to finding and fulfilling your purpose.
You need to trust your vision.
A lot of my clients say they feel cloudy and uncertain about their vision, yet when we explore their desires in our first session together, it turns out they know exactly what they want.
The problem isn’t that you don’t know what you want, it’s that you don’t trust what you see. If you don’t trust yourself, you’ll never take those important steps into the unknown to find your true path. You need to trust your desires.
People often doubt their desires, thinking them unimportant, unrealistic, too small, too big, or too out there.
But in our intricate, interconnected world, every living thing has a purpose that supports the web of life. Just as the flower provides food for the bee, which in turn pollinates nearly our entire food supply, you have a purpose or calling the world needs. You need to trust your intuition.
Everyone who creates success in life does it in their unique way. Your intuition is what guides you forward on your unique path.
Sometimes you can’t see the next right step because you feel overwhelmed, anxious or uncertain. Other times the next step feels too inconsequential, too out there, too scary or too big and needs to be broken down into smaller steps.
Either way, this is why having someone reflect your brilliance back to you supports you in finding clarity.
I believe deeply that you have gifts, talents, ideas and projects that are waiting to be born through you, that will change the lives of others while growing you into the highest version of yourself —
The person you’re meant to be, should you accept the adventure of your lifetime that is living your purpose.

I've been very lucky to find my purpose and a job that aligns with it early in life. I realise I'm lucky in this and quite possibly it's pretty rare. I've seen so many people around me though who keep going in a dead end job they don't enjoy, it drains them (and to be fair often it drains the people around them as well) but they can't go anywhere because the money is what keeps them. It's so hard for them and so scary to go out and find your purpose.
